SALT Sequel Hires SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET Screenwriter December 11, 2012 Sequel hires new screenwriter. THR is reporting that Columbia Pictures has hired screenwriter Becky Johnston (‘Seven Years in Tibet,’ ‘Prince of Tides’) to pen the screenplay for a sequel to Angelina Jolie’s spy thriller ‘Salt.’ Johnston replaces Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the Phillip Noyce-directed original and was hired early last year to provide the screenplay for the follow-up. Jolie has yet to put pen to paper to reprise her role of Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who goes on the run after she is accused of being a Russian sleeper agent. The actress’s involvement will hinge on Johnston’s draft. As previously reported, Noyce opted out of returning to the director’s chair.
