Russell Crowe to Lead FATHERS AND DAUGHTERS

Will produce and star in Blacklist drama…

Italian filmmaker Gabriele Muccino (‘The Pursuit of Happyness,’ ‘Seven Pounds’) is set to direct Russell Crowe (‘Man of Steel,’ ‘Les Misérables’) in the drama ‘Fathers and Daughters,’ according to reports.

Featuring a Blacklist script by Brad Desch (‘Shotgun Lovesongs’), the film is a love story between a father and daughter living in New York City 25 years apart. Crowe will portray a famous novelist and widower struggling with mental illness as he tries to raise his 5-year-old daughter; the story will also focus on the 30-year-old daughter’s life in present-day Manhattan where she battles the aftermath of her troubled childhood.

“This is a performance-driven movie, and therefore I couldn’t ask for a better actor than Russell to deliver this intensely emotional drama,” said Muccino in a statement. “It’s edgy, heart-wrenching, and uplifting at the same time. To me, it feels like a classic American movie that recalls the great character dramas of the ’70s like ‘Kramer Vs. Kramer’ and ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.’”

Voltage Productions’ Craig J. Flores and Nicolas Chartier, and Busted Shark Productions’ Sherryl Clark are on board to produce. Crowe and his Fear Of God Films partner Keith Rodger will serve as executive producers. The filmmakers are currently casting the role of the grown daughter.
