Russell Brand is to play a Renaissance-era swordsman in the upcoming comedy Hawkwood.
The film follows the swashbuckling adventures of the eponymous character, who is hired to lead various European armies into battle.
Jared Stern will write the script for the film and produced by Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Nicky Weinstock.
The comedian is currently working on a remake of Dudley Moore’s ’80s comedy Arthur with Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner.
