Reznor in talks for ABRAHAM LINCOLN VAMPIRE HUNTER

With an Oscar for ‘The Social Network’ under his belt, Trent Reznor is reportedly planning to complete his leap from music to movies by acting in Timur Bekmambetov’s adaption of ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.’ Now confirmed by Entertainment Weekly, Trent Reznor has been asked not just to provide the score for ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ but to appear in a cameo role.

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox confirms that the studio is currently negotiating to lure Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails, How To Destroy Angels) aboard ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ to supply the movie’s score and to also play Jack Barts, the vampire who kills Lincoln’s mother and sets the hero on his path of righteous vengeance.

Timur Bekmambetov’s adaption is based on a novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, who previously wrote the mash-up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter re-imagines Lincoln as a take-no-prisoners Van Helsing.

The tale of vampires v presidents will star Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln, Anthony Mackie as his friend Will, Dominic Cooper as his mentor Henry Stugress, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lincoln’s wife Mary Todd. The movie, produced by Tim Burton, will begin shooting this year with a release date set for June 2012.

Bekmambetov previously directed Russian blockbusters ‘Night Watch’ and ‘Day Watch,’ and 2008’s ‘Wanted’ starring James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie.

Reznor is expected to score David Fincher’s ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,’ reteaming with musical collaborator Atticus Ross. There’s no word yet if Ross is also involved with the Abraham Lincoln score.
