Teaser poster for the live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese manga.

Back in August we brought you news of director Alexandre Aja (‘Piranha 3D,’ ‘The Hills Have Eyes’) developing a movie based on Japanese manga ‘Cobra – The Space Pirate.’ Things have been very quiet in regards to news from the project, but yesterday a promotional teaser poster for the upcoming live-action adaptation arrived to help promote the sale of the project at the Cannes Film Festival. Check it out below.


Written & illustrated by Buichi Terasawa, the space-opera manga series follows a rogue space pirate. Cobra, who’s “Psycho-gun” makes him a force to be reckoned with. Cobra surgically alters his face and erases his own memory to hide from his enemies. Gradually his memories come back and he and unites with his old partner Lady Armaroid. Together, the two set off on their spaceship, the Tortuga, on an adventure to liberate a lost treasure on Mars.
