Berg to direct true life family drama.

Variety reports that Peter Berg (‘Battleship,’ ‘The Kingdom,’ ‘Friday Night Lights’) is attached to direct a feature adaptation of Buzz Bissinger’s memoir ‘Father’s Day.’

Published earlier this year ‘Father’s Day’ chronicles Bissinger’s relationship with his twin sons, one of whom is a savant. The book also recounts a summer road trip taken by father and son and the personal journey that helps the author better understand his child.

Bissinger, who is also Berg’s cousin, is best known for writing the novel ‘Friday Night Lights,’ and other sporting titles such as ‘Shooting Stars,’ and ‘3 Nights in August.’
