Oliver Stone to tackle Mexican drug cartels for his next movie.

Oliver Stone’s is looking to cast Taylor Kitsch (‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine,’ ‘Friday Night Lights’) and Aaron Johnson (‘Kick Ass’) to play the leads in his adaptation of Don Winslow’s novel, ‘Savages.’

The drama centers around two pot growers, Chon and Ben, who are forced into working for a Mexican cartel when the drug dealers kidnap the girlfriend they share.

Olivia Wilde (‘Tron Legacy’) is being eyed for the role of Ophelia, the girlfriend. Jennifer Lawrence (‘Winter’s Bone,’ ‘X-Men: First Class’) was originally in talks for the role, but with the recent announcement of her signing on as the lead in ‘Hunger Games,’ she may need to drop out of ‘Savages.’

Along with Kitsch, Aaron, and Wilde, the director is also reportedly eyeing Salma Hayek to play the drug cartel’s matriarch, who becomes maternal over Orphelia.

Shane Salerno (‘Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem,’ ‘Shaft’) will write the script with Winslow.
