Director and writer hired for long-gesting comic book adaptation.

‘Peter Pan’ and ‘Muriel’s Wedding’ helmer P.J. Hogan has been tapped to direct the feature adaptation of Jeff Smith’s long running cult comic ‘Bone.’

‘Greek’ creator Patrick Sean Smith is attached to write the screenplay, which chronicles the adventures of the Bone cousins–plucky Fone Bone, scheming Phony Bone, and easygoing Smiley Bone– who leave their home of Boneville and are swept up in a Tolkienesque epic of royalty, dragons, and unspeakable evil forces out to conquer humankind.

According to THR, the plan is for Hogan to direct the film in Australia, with Dan Lin (‘Sherlock Holmes’) and Animal Logic (the award-winning animation company behind ‘Happy Feet 2’ and ‘Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole’) producing
