Clifton Collins Jr. has been added to the Rougues Gallery to play sidekick to the villain Nero, played by Eric Bana.
Actor Chris Hemsworth will play the father of Captain Kirk (despite being three years younger than Chris Pine who was recently signed up to play Kirk)
These new characters join a growing cast that currently includes Simon Pegg, Winona Ryder and the original Spock Leonard Nimoy.
