MONSTERS UNIVERSITY Pushed Back to 2013

3D prequel gets pushed back, while another animations is brought forward to fill the gap.

Disney-Pixar announced today that the ‘Monsters Inc.’ prequel ‘Monsters University’ has had its release date pushed back from winter 2012 to a summer 2013 release.

‘Monsters University’ follows the relationship between Mike and Sulley during their days at the University of Fear — when they weren’t necessarily the best of friends.

To fill the hole left by ‘Monsters University,’ Disney will now move ‘Reboot Ralph’ into the original ‘Monsters’ date, up from March 2013.

‘Reboot Ralph’ (originally named ‘Joe Jump’) comes out of Disney’s animation studios and centers on an out of date arcade character whom time has passed by. A fish out of water tale about a Pac-Man era game trying to make it in a World of Warcraft world. The title character is resigned to the retro gaming bin until he finds a way to jump into modern day games.

The Pixar Blog discovered the logo for the Dan Scanlon-directed prequel. According to the site, the logo was registered with the patent office five days before the movie’s title was announced. You can be sure the logo will undergo some changes before the movie’s release.
