Meryl Streep in talks for Russell Brand’s remake of Arthur Meryl Streep is in talks for Russell Brand’s upcoming remake of Arthur. Back in 2008, Brand revealed his plans to remake the 1981 comedy. Now the Daily Star is claiming Streep has expressed an interest in the project: “When I met Russell recently, he said he was remaking Arthur with himself in the lead,” a source said. “Apparently they’re working on the script and adapting stuff to bring it up to date. “He wants a woman to play Hobson, saying it would make the dynamics really interesting.” Peter Baynham, who won an Oscar for his work on Borat, has been announced as the writer of the movie.
