Cast announcement for animated sequel.
20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios have confirmed that Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Jemaine Clement, will.i.am, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro, Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto, Jake T. Austin, and Jamie Foxx are all set to return to lend their voices to the animated sequel ‘Rio 2.’
In addition to the returning cast, ‘Rio 2’ will feature the voices of Andy Garcia, singer Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Moreno, Amandla Stenberg, singer/actress Rachel Crow, Pierce Gagnon and American news anchor Natalie Morales.
With ‘Rio’ creator and director Carlos Saldanha once again directing, ‘Rio 2’ finds Blu (Eisenberg), Jewel (Hathaway) and their three kids living the perfect domesticated life in that magical city. When Jewel decides the kids need to learn to live like real birds, she insists the family venture into the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in with his new neighbours, he worries he may lose Jewel and the kids to the call of the wild.
‘Rio 2’ is currently in production with release set for March 2014. Released worldwide in April 2011, ‘Rio’ pulled in $486 million at the worldwide box office and proved to also be a huge hit on DVD and Blu-ray disc.
