Justin Lin and Andrew Dominik Enter THE SHAOLIN TEMPLE

China-set actioner lands writer and director…

‘Fast & Furious’ helmer Justin Lin has closed a deal to take the helm a 3D remake of the 1982 martial arts actioner ‘The Shaolin Temple,’ with Andrew Dominik (‘Chopper,’ ‘ The Assassination of Jesse James’) on board to provide the screenplay.

Marking the feature debut of Jet Li, the 1982 original is based loosely on Shaolin folklore. Set during China’s transition between the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the film centres on the son of a Tang emperor slave worker who escapes to the temple to train in kung fu in order to get revenge on the General who betrayed the emperor.

Producers on the remake include Beijing Enlight Pictures, Bruno Wu’s Seven Stars and Perfect Storm Entertainment Lin is expected to turn his attention to ‘The Shaolin Temple’ after he wraps on the next installment of the Bourne franchise.
