Jonathan Mostow to Direct FOR THE DOGS

Replaces Phillip Noyce behind the camera.

Variety is hearing that ‘Surrogates’ and ‘Terminator 3’ helmer Jonathan Mostow has closed a deal to direct Sam Worthington and Hailee Steinfeld in the indie action-thriller ‘For the Dogs.’ Mostow replaces Phillip Noyce, who was originally set to direct.

Based on Kevin Wignall’s novel of the same name, the story centres on “a solitary assassin who helps a college girl exact revenge for the murder of her parents and brother.”

FilmEngine Entertainment’s Anthony Rhulen and Navid McIlhargey will produce the indie alongside Worthington and Full Clip Productions partners John Schwarz and Michael Schwarz, and Paul Leyden and Gregory Browne of Anthropology Films.

The producers are aiming for an autumn start with Mostow directing from a script by Oren Moverman (‘Rampart,’ ‘The Messenger’).
