Jon Favreau Joins IDENTITY THIEF

Favreau to step back in front of camera for comedy.

Variety has learned that actor/director Jon Favreau has signed up for a supporting role opposite Jason Bateman (‘Horrible Bosses’) and Melissa McCarthy (‘Bridesmaids’) in ‘Identity Thief.’

The comedy stars Bateman as man whose life is upended when his identity is stolen by a woman, played by McCarthy. According to the trade’s sources Favreau will take the role of Bateman’s boss. Amanda Peet (‘2012’), John Cho (‘Star Trek,’ ‘American Pie’) and Clark Duncan (‘Kick-Ass’) are also set to co-star.

‘Identity Thief’ will be directed by Seth Gordon (‘Horrible Bosses,’ ‘The King of Kong’) with a screenplay by Steve Conrad and Craig Mazin. Scott Stuber will produce via his Bluegrass Films banner, alongside Bateman and Pam Abdy.
