Johnny Depp

Long-gesting project back on track…

Tom Hardy is reportedly in early talks to star opposite Johnny Depp in ‘Black Mass,’ Cross Creek Pictures and Exclusive Media’s long-gesting crime drama based on the life of Boston’s most notorious gangster, James Joseph “Whitey” Bulger Jr.

‘Black Mass,’ scripted by Mark Mallouk, tells the true story of Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf. However, after the FBI closed in on their targets, they double crossed Bulger and ultimately prosecuted him, along with his partner in crime and the original FBI agent working with him.

‘Lawless’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ star Hardy is believed to be eyeing the role of an FBI agent who also happened to be a childhood friend of Bulger.

Scott Cooper (‘Out of the Furnace,’ ‘Crazy Heart’) is attached to direct. The script is adapted the Dick Lehr and Gerald O’Neill bestseller ‘Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between The FBI and The Irish Mob.’
