John Lasseter reveals plot details for the upcoming Cars sequel

Disney/Pixar’s John Lasseter has revealed plans for the upcoming Cars sequel, ‘Cars 2’


Lasseter today hosted an animation conference in London, Amongst his announcements was news that the focus of ‘Cars 2’ will involve a worldwide Race of Champions  that will visit France, Italy, Germany, UK and Japan. It will centre on the character of Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable Guy), who becomes embroiled with a new Aston Martin-like British secret agent named Finn McMissle.


The sequel will be directed by Ratatouille producer Brad Lewis, who is making his directorial debut for the studio.

Movies.ie will be bringing you more details on Lasseter’s conference over the weekend. Movies.ie had a 30 minute interview with the animation wizard after the conference to tie in with the release of ‘The Princess and The Frog’ in 2010. We couldn’t resist asking the man himself about the rumours of Pixar making Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ and sadly Lasseter revealed that there is no truth in the rumour, he hasn’t had any talks about any Marvel projects yet. Pixar’s next project is ‘Toy Story 3’, followed by ‘Cars 2’ then ‘The Bear and the bow’.
