Silver developing redo of 2004 heist thriller.
Producer Joel Silver and Studio Canal have acquired the remake rights to Nicolas Boukhrief’s French heist thriller ‘Le Convoyeur,’ with plans to develop an English-language take titled ‘Cash Truck.’
Released in 2004 and starring Albert Dupontel and Jean Dujardin, the original follows Alexandre Demarre, a disturbed and mysterious man who takes a job as a security guard for an armoured truck company and ingratiates himself with his co-workers, who trust him enough to make him part of their heist plans. Unbeknownst to his colleagues, Alexandre had his own motives for taking the job.
A remake of ‘Le Convoyeur’ was previously set up over at Nu Image/Millennium Films with Eric Bana lined up to star under the direction of F. Gary Gray (‘Law Abiding Citizen,’ ‘The Italian Job’).
