Joel Edgerton & More Officially Join Kathryn Bigelow’s KILL BIN LADEN

Casting ramps up for the ensemble war drama.

Last May it was announced that Joel Edgerton (‘Warrior,’ ‘The Great Gatsby’) had joined the cast of Kathryn Bigelow’s Osama Bin Laden war drama, but then in November the actor appeared to drop out of the project. Now Variety is reporting that the ‘Warrior’ star has officially signed on to star in Mark Boal-scripted drama, which is still referred to by its original title of ‘Kill Bin Laden.’

The drama portrays Navy SEAL Team 6′s long hunt for the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. Osama Bin Laden was finally killed in a covert mission last year.

Deadline adds that Jessica Chastain (‘Tree of Life,’ ‘The Help,’ ‘Take Shelter’), Mark Strong (‘John Carter,’ ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’), and Edgar Ramirez (‘Carlos,’ ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’) have also joined the ensemble which includes Jason Clarke (‘The Great Gatsby,’ ‘Public Enemies’) and Chris Pratt (‘Moneyball,’ ‘Parks and Recreation’) on the cast.

As previously reported, Rooney Mara was being eyed for the role of a female reporter embedded with the SEAL 6 team, but her ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ promotion schedule has prevented her taking the part.
