THR is reporting that Joe Carnahan (‘The Grey,’ ‘The A-Team,’ ‘Smokin’ Aces’) is in negotiations to take the director’s chair for ‘Sugar Bandits.’
Penned by ‘The Town’ author Chuck Hogan based on his 2010 novel ‘Devils In Exile,’ the drama centres on Iraq War veteran Neal Maven who returns home to Boston and finds himself facing dead-end jobs and small futures. Teaming up with a group of fellow soldiers, Maven sets out to rip off local drug dealers, destroying the product and grabbing the money. The crew’s lives are soon put into jeopardy when they are pursued by both a smart federal DEA agent and by a pair of psychopathic Jamaican hit men on a drug lords’ payroll.
Global Produce partners Marc Shmuger and Tom McNulty are producing, with Richard Abate serving as executive producer.
