Jean-Marc Vallee’s DEMOLITION Adds Naomi Watts

Will star opposite Jake Gyllenhaal…

Australian actress Naomi Watts (‘Birdman,’ ‘St. Vincent’) is set to star opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Demolition,’ the next directorial effort from ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ helmer Jean-Marc Vallee.

Based on the 2007 Black List script Bryan Sipe (‘Alpha Mail,’ ‘A Million Miles’), ‘Demolition’ tells the story of Davis Mitchell, an investment banker who goes into a downward spiral after the death of his wife. The man then begins to “tear apart his life in a effort to see where he went wrong and is ultimately rescued by a woman he meets in a chance encounter.”

Watts will play Karen “a pot-smoking customer service representative” with anxiety issues and a 17 year-old son who begins to fall for Davis as she learns of his pain and loss.

Thad and Trent Luckinbill and Molly Smith of Black Label Media are on board to produce the film with John Malkovich and Lianne Halfon via their Mr. Mudd shingle.
