James McAvoy joins Arthur Christmas November 3, 2010 Cast confirmed for Arthur Christmas… James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent and Imelda Staunton have joined the cast of the forthcoming Arthur 3D CG-animated movie Arthur Christmas from the Wallace & Gromit studio. Taking place one Christmas Eve night, the story tells of Santa Claus’s secret high-tech operation carried out beneath the North Pole that allows him to deliver presents across the world in one evening. McAvoy plays the title character Arthur, Santa’s accident-prone youngest son – who is the only member of the family still enchanted by the festive holiday – while Laurie will play older brother Steve, who oversees operations with regimented precision. Broadbent and Staunton will voice Santa and Mrs Santa respectivelt with Bill Nighy on board as Grandsanta – a 136-year-old who dislikes the modern world and has a rocky relationship with Steve. Arthur Christmas is expected in Irish cinemas, Christmas 2011.
