Alan Arkin in talks to co-star.
Variety reports that ‘Animal Kingdom’ actress Jacki Weaver will join Shirley MacLaine to topline the indie comedy ‘Wild Oats.’
The comedy centers on MacLaine’s character “accidentally receiving a Social Security check in the amount of $900,000 instead of the normal $900. At the incessant urging of her best friend (Weaver) she deposits the money and escapes the small Ohio town for Las Vegas — where their new life seems to be short lived when they discover that they have become media sensations and fugitives overnight, forced to outwit a trio of conmen and dodge Social Ssecurity agents.”
Alan Arkin (‘Argo,’ ‘The Change-Up,’ ‘Little Miss Sunshine’) is currently in negotiations for an unknown role.
Howard Deutch (‘Hung,’ ‘The Replacements’) is set to direct, replacing ‘Blonde Ambition’ helmer Scott Marshall who was originally attached to direct the film when it was first announced last year.
