Irish movie CHARLIE CASANOVA to premiere at South by Southwest Film Festival

Irish director Terry McMahon will be rubbing shoulders with Jodie Foster & Mel Gibson’s movie “The Beaver” at this weeks SXSW festival

Irish Writer/director Terry McMahon had several successes as a writer with many projects “greenlit” only to end up in development hell and never getting made. When he wrote his new 90 minute film CHARLIE CASANOVA he by-passed the usual channels, he opened a Facebook page looking for help to make his film. He was quickly inundated with offers to help, actors and crew, who gave their services free. CHARLIE CASANOVA was shot over a 12 day period last January and quickly won the attention of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, who had planned to premiere it at this years festival until McMahon was approached by one of the biggest and most prestigious film festivals in the world, The South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin Texas. This low (almost no) budget movie will now have its World Premiere in the Feature Narrative Competition at SXSW, Austin Texas, March 10th-19th alongside Jodie Foster’s film “The Beaver” with Mel Gibson.

Early reviews of the film paint a very promising picture “Eerily crazed…Intricately crafted…Wonderfully insane…Played with fantastic furor and ferocious confidence……Smooth like the semiquavers of improv jazz, Charlie Casanova pulses with a voracious lust to provoke…More than just a good movie, or well crafted script, Charlie Casanova is rich with narrative, potent with conflict, and oozing with the dialogue of Dublin’s inner city.”
