Irish Oscar nominated director, Juanita Wilson has been named among Variety’s top ten directors to watch for 2011. Considered a huge achievement in the international film industry, Juanita Wilson is the only woman to be nominated this year.
Juanita recently returned to Dublin with the prestigious Silver Pyramid Award from the Cairo International Film Festival, where her film AS IF I AM NOT THERE screened to critical acclaim. The film also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year and will have its North American premiere at the Palm Springs festival. Speaking on her selection, Juanita Wilson was ‘absolutely delighted to find myself on such a prestigous list. The last year has been amazing and I hope that this announcement throws an even greater spotlight on my work”.
Element Pictures Distribution have recently released ground-breaking films such as GARAGE, KISSES, WAVERIDERS, THE YELLOW BITTERN and HIS & HERS. They will release Juanita’s film AS IF I AM NOT THERE in 2011.
