Indie Drama MERCY Teams Ellen Page And Kate Mara

Ellen Page (‘Freeheld’) and Kate Mara (‘Morgan’) have signed on to headline the indie drama ‘Mercy,’ with Amy Seimetz (‘Alien: Covenant,’ ‘Lovesong’), Pablo Schreiber (‘American Gods,’ ’13 Hours’), and Elias Koteas (‘Let Me In,’ ‘Shutter Island’) also starring.

Israeli filmmaker Tali Shalom Ezer (‘Princess,’ ‘Surrogate’) directs the Joe Barton-scripted drama with Page playing Lucy, the daughter of a man on death row falling in love with Mercy (Mara), a woman on the opposing side of her family’s political cause. Their relationship causes Lucy’s world to unravel as her value for truth is tested.

Variety hears that production is scheduled for a September start in Cincinnati.

Both Page and Mara will produce the indie, along with Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa of Killer Films, with Robert Halmi Jr and Jim Reeve serving as executive producers through Great Point Media and Karri O’Reilly.
