INBETWEENERS Movie Sequel Confirmed for Summer 2014

The hapless Jay, Neil, Simon, and Will are back for follow-up.

The creative team behind ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ have announced that a sequel is officially in production with release set for August 2014.

Released in 2011, and based on the hugely popular award-winning E4 series that ran from 2008 to 2010, the film raked in an estimated €92 million at the worldwide box-office becoming the UK’s most successful comedy of all time

Principal photography on the follow-up is set to kick off later this year with James Buckley, Blake Harrison, Joe Thomas and Simon Bird reprising their respective roles, and while plot details have yet to be released, some outlets have suggested that the new movie will follow the hapless quartet backpacking across Australia and attending, rumour has it, Neil’s wedding.

In a statement, creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley: “We couldn’t be more excited to be making another Inbetweeners movie with Simon, Joe, James and Blake. Frankly it’s pathetic how much we’ve all missed each other. A new chapter in the lives of the Inbetweeners feels like the very least we can do to thank the fans for their phenomenal response to the first movie.”

Entertainment Film will distribute the film with Channel 4/Film4 co-financing Bwark Productions.
