McCallany signs on for crime drama.
Holt McCallany (‘Lights Out’) has joined the cast of ‘Gangster Squad,’ Ruben Fleischer’s period crime drama starring Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Anthony Mackie, Michael Pena, Giovanni Ribisi and Bryan Cranston.
Scripted by Will Beall, the movie centers on an elite police squad that is assigned to bring Brooklyn-born mob kingpin Meyer Harris “Mickey” Cohen to justice. Deadline reports that McCallany will be playing the bodyguard and main enforcer for Cohen.
McCallany is currently in production on Walter Hill/Sylvester Stallone’s untitled action thriller.
