Deadline is reporting that screenwriting newcomer Frank Moll has sold ‘Arminius,’ his fact-based biopic of the famous German warrior, to 20th Century Fox.
Moll’s script tells the story of Arminius, a German who was trained as a Roman warrior, but who switched allegiance when the Romans tried to take over Germania. At just 25 years of age, Arminius managed to unite the separate Germanic tribes and rally them to victory against the Roman Army in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. The defeat halted the Roman Empire’s expansion into northern Europe, and became the worst loss suffered by the Romans under the reign of Augustus Caesar.
The feature will be produced by Wolfgang Petersen and Julie Yorn. A director has yet to be named.
