Star and comic co-creator pitch comic adaptation.
Heat Vision has learned that mixed martial arts fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano (‘Fast & Furious 6,’ ‘Haywire’) and comic creator Rob Liefeld (‘Deadpool,’ ‘X-Force,’ ‘Cable’) are teaming up for a feature adaptation of Liefeld and Cathy Christian’s ‘Avengelyne.’
Carano would play the title character, a fallen angel cast down to Earth on a mission is to find and protect “The One,” a person who holds the key to saving mankind from demons and other monsters.
The project is being developed as a potential franchise vehicle for Carano, intended to be in the vein of the Kate Beckinsale-led ‘Underworld’ franchise.
Scott Karp and Brooklyn Weaver (‘Out of the Furnace’) will co-produce the proposed fim with Carano and Liefeld. The producers will begin their search for a writer and director this week.
