We heart Reese Witherspoon – and not just for those more serious roles – nope, we’re talking from Walk the Line to Legally Blonde, even Penelope! And this weekend, the blonde bombshell is uniting with Vince Vaughn for some seasonal comedy capers in “Four Christmases”. But what do you know about that legally blonde, legally former Mrs Ryan Phillippe? Movies.ie presents ten things you didn’t know about Reese Witherspoon.




(1)She refused the lead roles in two horror movies, Scream and Urban Legend.


(2)One of her ancestors, John Witherspoon, signed the Declaration of Independence. In the movie 1776, the role of Dr. John Witherspoon was played by James Noble.


(3)She runs a production company called “Type A Films” with Debra Siegal


(4) As a child she appeared in her local Sunday paper modeling kids’ track suits and such. She said that it was creative for her. She was paid $50 a day.


(5)Neither she nor her ex-husband, actor Ryan Phillippe, use their real first names – Reese’s first name is Laura, Ryan’s first name is Matthew.


(6) Reese was the first person to host Saturday Night Live after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks


(7)The year she won her Oscar for Walk the Line her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe appeared in the movie that won “Best Picture”: Crash.
