Fairy tale adaptation trend continues.
In a recent interview with ComingSoon.net, producer Denise Di Novi (‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’ ‘Life as We Know It’) said that she is developing a new take on ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ with Guillermo Del Toro (‘Pacific Rim’) attached as producer. While Di Nova didn’t reveal much more, she did say that ‘Harry Potter’ actress Emma Watson is set to star.
With Del Toro attached we can only imagine that the adaptation will be a dark reimagining of the classic tale.
‘Beauty and the Beast’ has been adapted countless time, with the most recent version being the Alex Pettyfer‘s top-lined ‘Beastly.’
Post-‘Harry Potter’, Watson has a supporting in the Simon Curtis’ ‘My Week with Marilyn,’ starring alongside Michelle Williams. The actress is currently shooting an adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s coming-of-age novel ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower.’
