Emily Blunt and James Corden to Head INTO THE WOODS

Pair to lead the musical ensemble.

According to TheWrap, Emily Blunt (‘The Five-Year Engagement,’ ‘Looper’) and fellow Brit James Corden (‘Gavin & Stacey,’ ‘The History Boys’) are to play the leads on Disney’s all-star adaptation of the Broadway musical ‘Into the Woods.’

With Rob Marshall in the director’s chair, ‘Into The Woods’ revolves around a childless baker (Corden) and his wife (Blunt) who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the witch that put the spell on them. The darkly comic tale interweaves together the story of several of the most beloved fairytales like Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’s’ Jack.

Blunt and Corden will be joining a cast that includes Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, and Christine Baranski (‘The Good Wife’). As we learned yesterday, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are being lined up to play pompous and self-absorbed sibling princes who are the love interests of Cinderella and Rapunzel.
