Actress reportedly up for role of Princess Aurora.
Back in February, while out promoting her directorial debut ‘In The Land of Blood And Honey,’ Angelina Jolie revealed that she is set to make Disney’s action fantasy ‘Maleficent’ her next. Since then, things have been moving quickly and now Twitch has word that Elle Fanning (‘‘We Bought a Zoo,’ ‘Super 8’) is in talks to join Jolie.
A revisionist take on the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ fairy tale, ‘Maleficent’ is told from the point of view of the wicked fairy godmother who threatened to kill the princess. If a deal is reached Fanning would be taking the role of Princess Aurora, the young beauty sent into a lengthy slumber.
The long in development project marks the directorial debut of Robert Stromberg, who will helm the project from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton (‘Alice in Wonderland,’ ‘The Lion King.’)
