Elfman to Score OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL THE HUNGER GAMES

Sam Raimi and Danny Elfman bury the hatchet.

In an interview with The Film Music Reporter, Award winning composer Danny Elfman (‘Batman’) revealed that he is set to reunite with Sam Raimi for the director’s ‘Wizard of Oz’ prequel, ‘Oz The Great and Powerful.’ The movie will mark the first time the pair has worked together since 2004. The director and composer fell out over the score for ‘Spider-Man 2.’

In addition to Raimi’s ‘Oz the Great and Powerful,’ Elfman is being lined up to score the Gary Ross’ adaptation of Suzanne Collins best-selling teen trilogy ‘The Hunger Games.’ The composer will collaborate with T. Bone Burnet, who recently scored an Oscar for his work on ‘Crazy Heart.’

Other projects on Elfman’s upcoming slate include Shawn Levy’s ‘Real Steel,’ ‘Men in Black 3’ and two projects with frequent collaborator Tim Burton, ‘Frankenweenie, and ‘Dark Shadows.’
