Drive Thru cinema for Dublin Port IFSC area

Plan to open a second drive thru cinema in Ireland

When it rains, it pours… no sooner has the paint dried on the new Odeon cinema in Dublin’s IFSC Point Village when a second rival cinema announces plans to open in the same area.

Movie Junction has operated a successful drive in cinema in Cork since 2005 and this week confirmed plans to open in Dublin, using a car-storage compound at Dublin Port for a two-screen cinema. The Cork drive thru cinema currently accommodates 100 cars charging €16 per car, regardless of how many are in the vehicle. The Dublin drive in will most likely be a bigger operation judging by the amount of space available to the company.

What do you think? Would you go to a drive in cinema in Dublin or do you prefer the comforts of a traditional cinema?
