Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson (‘Frank,’ ‘About Time’) is in talks to join Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Will Poulter on the cast of Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu’s ‘The Revenant,’ Variety reports.
The film, based on the Michael Punke novel of the same name, is set in the 1800s and centres on Hugh Glass, a frontiersman and fur trapper who is mauled by a bear. Unable to carry him back to civilization because of the impossible terrain, the captain of his ship hires two mercenaries to stay behind and bury him after he dies. Instead, the men rob him and leave him to die alone in the cold. Unfortunately for them, he recovers and sets out to take his revenge on the men who abandoned him.
Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin, Keith Redmon and David Kanter will produce along with Iñárritu, Arnon Milchan and James Skotchdopole.
Gleeson is currently busy filming J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: Episode VII.’
