24-year-old ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ star Dev Patel is reportedly in negotiations for the lead in ‘Lion,’ a drama based the life of Indian–born Australian-raised businessman Saroo Brierley.
The script, which has generated major buzz in Hollyweird, is based on Brierley’s memoir ‘A Long Way Home’ and tells of a street kid from Calcutta who is taken in and adopted by a couple in Australia.
Fellow Aussies Nicole Kidman (‘Before I Go To Sleep’) and Hugh Jackman (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’) are rumoured to be playing the couple who take the boy in, however, THR is hearing that Jackman is not involved.
‘Top of the Lake’ co-director Garth Davis is behind the camera for the real-life tale.
