Dark Knight Breaks Box Office Records

Biggest opening of all time for Batman

As predicted – The Dark Knight has broken box office records.

On Friday, The Dark Knight broke the US record for a single day’s box office takings on Friday.

The movie made $66.4 million on its opening day, topping the previous high of $59.8 million set by Spider-Man 3. The film went on to earn $155 in box office takings over the weekend .

It’s the biggest opening for
any Batman film  and is more than three times the opening of Batman
Begins, the movie that revitalised interest in the Caped Cruasder on
the big screen.

Warner’s Dan Fellman credited the success to director Christopher Nolan and the performance of Heath Ledger, who died before the film was completed, as The Joker.
