Cusack Teaming Up with Knoxville for CARNAVAL

New comedy lands an interesting pairing.

John Cusack and ‘Jackass’ star Johnny Knoxville have signed up for Josh Stern’s comedy ‘Carnaval.’

According to THR, Cusack will be playing a sports agent who is sent to Rio de Janeiro during the over-the-top bacchanalia of Carnaval to recruit the world’s best football player with the promise that if he signs the star, he will inherit the agency. Knoxville will take the role of the scout’s best friend, a musician who tags along and unwittingly derails the signing by having an affair with the player’s girlfriend.

The script was initially penned by former sports agent David Styne, and rewritten by Stern. ‘Carnaval’ will begin shooting on location in Rio in January.

Cusack will next be seen playing Edgar Allan Poe in the gothic thriller ‘The Raven,’ while Knoxville is currently shooting the Arnold Schwarzenegger headlined actioner ‘The Last Stand.’
