Cruise Signs for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5

I.M.F agent Ethan Hunt will return.

Deadline has confirmed that Tom Cruise has closed a deal with Paramount Pictures and David Ellison’s Skydance Productions to reprise his role as super-spy Ethan Hunt for another outing of the ‘Mission Impossible’ franchise.

While a writer or director has yet to be set, Cruise’s frequent collaborator Christopher McQuarrie is rumoured to be the frontrunner for the gig. The two most recently teamed for the Lee Child adaptation, ‘Jack Reacher.’

The exhilarating fourth instalment of the series, ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,’ saw Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Simon Pegg joining Cruise in the action. Directed by Brad Bird, the action-packed film had a $145 million budget and grossed nearly $700 million worldwide.
