Ang Lee’s wuxia film to get sequel treatment.
Mike Fleming over at Deadline has word that a sequel to Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ is in development with The Weinstein Company planning a May production start date in Asia.
With Ronny Yu is in talks to direct, the film is based on author Wang Du Lu’s fourth book in the Crane-Iron Pentalogy, ‘Silver Vase, Iron Knight.’ The story will revolve around Yu Shu Lien, the character played in the original by Michelle Yeoh. It is not yet known if the any actors from the first film will return to reprise their roles.
The screenplay comes from John Fusco (‘The Forbidden Kingdom,’ ‘Hidalgo’).
