Long-gesting remake moves forward…
Up-and-coming screenwriter Joe Gazzam (‘Shadow Run’) has been tapped by producer Neal Moritz (’22 Jump Street,’ ‘Fast and Furious’) and StudioCanal to pen the script for abig-budget re-imagining of the Sylvester Stallone-led action thriller ‘Cliffhanger.’
Directed by Renny Harlin, the1993 film centred on Gabe Walker (Stallone), a troubled former Search-and-Rescue mountain who is forced back into an expedition by a gang of professional crooks, led by John Lithgow, after a plane crash leaves a lot of stolen cash strewn on the Rocky Mountains.
Mortiz is producing the new film alongside Original Film partner Ori Marmur and StudioCanal’s Ronald Halpern (‘The Two Faces of January,’ ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’).
