Chris O’Dowd Joins Lance Armstrong Biopic

Armstrong film fills out supporting cast…

Roscommon native Chris O’Dowd (‘Moone Boy,’ ‘Bridesmaids’), Guillaume Canet (‘The Players,’ ‘Tell No One’) and ‘Breaking Bad’ star Jesse Plemons have all joined Stephen Frears’ untitled Lance Armstrong.

With Ben Foster heading up the cast as the pro-cyclist, the film chronicles Armstrong’s career from his cancer ordeal to the doping scandal that enveloped the Tour de France and led to the downfall of the 7-time champion.

The screenplay comes from John Hodge (‘Trance,’ ‘Trainspotting,’ ‘The Beach’) based on the book ‘Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong’ by Sunday Times journalist and chief sports writer David Walsh and according to Screen Daily, Dowd will be playing Walsh, with Canet and Plemons in key supporting roles.

Principal photography is set to commence this week, with filming to take place in France in the UK.
