Burton Helms Pirates

Tim Burton rumoured to direct the next ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film.

Captain Jack Sparrow could be working with his favourite director, if the latest rumours prove to have credence…

According to the latest web rumour, Tim Burton – who has worked with the star of the hit adventure franchise, Johnny Depp, on numerous occasions – is rumoured to be taking over the helm from Gore Verbinski, who made the first three movies.

Depp has already signed on to reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, earning himself a reported $61 million, which is the highest upfront payment in Hollywood history.

Geoffrey Rush is also expected to star, although Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are unlikely to rejoin the cast.

Sascha Baron Cohen – who starred alongside Johnny in the Tim Burton-directed ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ – and Russell Brand are apparently being considered to play Johnny’s brother in the new film.

Tim and Johnny are currently working on a remake of classic children’s story ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
