BARBARELLA Series Heads To Amazon

Iconic sexpot finds new home…

The good folk over at Deadline are hearing that Gaumont International Television’s small screen adaptation of ‘Barbarella’ has been set up over at Amazon Studios, with ‘Skyfall’ scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade providing the script.

Created by Jean-Claude Forest, the character first appeared in the French magazine V-Magazine in 1962, before being published as a stand-alone book, under the title ‘Barbarella.’ The sci-fi heroine was made famous by the 1968 cult classic sci-fi starring Jane Fonda.

The project, which has been In development for a number of years now, will be executive produced by Nicolas Refn (‘Drive,’ ‘Valhalla Rising’) and Martha De Laurentiis, whose late husband Dino Laurentiis produced the 1968 movie.
