Ansel Elgort, who is currently starring alongside Shailene Woodley in ‘The Fault In Our Stars,’ has closed a deal to take the lead in a biopic of piano prodigy Van Cliburn for Temple Hill and Crystal Entertainment.
Per Deadline, Elgort will play the famed musician “in his formative years when, at age 23 in 1958, he emerged from out of nowhere to win the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow. It was the first time the tournament was held, and was organized by the USSR after it had caught up to the U.S. in the nuclear arms race and completed the first successful space launch with Sputnik.”
Ari Daniel Pinchot, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are on board to produce. The project is currently without a director.
‘The Fault in Our Stars’ is cinemas across the country now.
