Ansel Elgort (‘Divergent,’ ‘Carrie’) has been offered the male lead in Josh Boone’s young adult drama ‘The Fault In Our Stars.’
Penned by ‘500 Days of Summer’ scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the film is an adaptation of John Green’s best-selling novel of the same name and tells the heartbreaking love story of Hazel and Augustus, two teenagers who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love. Despite facing their own mortality, the two bolster each other’s spirits with humour as they bravely face an uncertain future.
In a statement to EW, Green commented, “Ansel is whip-smart and uber-charismatic and everything I dreamed for Augustus Waters. I am by nature a cautious pessimist, but I’ll just say it: Now that we have Shailene and Ansel, I am completely, unreservedly psyched about this movie.”
Elgort is currently in production on the young adult fantasy adaptation ‘Divergent,’ also starring Woodley.
