Animated Icon BETTY BOOP Heading Back To The Big Screen

Beloved character getting “music-driven” comedy feature…

Animal Logic Entertainment, the award-winning design, animation and visual effects house behind ‘The LEGO Movie’ and ‘Happy Feet,’ have announced that they are teaming with Fleischer Studios and Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment for big screen outing of animation icon Betty Boop.

Created by animation legend Max Fleischer, Boop is one of the most loved and sought-after animated characters of the past and present centuries with accolades spanning film and television, fashion and music. Having first hit screens in 1930 with numerous appearances in Fleischer’s Talkartoons and her own ‘Betty Boop’ cartoon series, her popularity has continued to grow through the decades. The character’s last movie appearance was a cameo in the 1988 blockbuster ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit.’

The film, described as a “music-driven hybrid animated comedy,” will be produced by Zareh Nalbandian and Jason Lust of Animal Logic along with Cowell and his Syco partner Adam Milano.

“Betty is an icon, and one of the biggest stars in the world – I’m thrilled to be working with her,” commented Cowell. “Betty, I’ve worked with some serious divas but I think you could be the biggest of them all!”
