Adam Wingard Takes DEAD SPY RUNNING September 17, 2012 Helmer and writing partner to tackle espionage novel. Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has enlisted Adam Wingard (‘V/H/S,’ ‘You’re Next’) to take directing duties on ‘Dead Spy Running,’ an international spy thriller based on British author John Stock’s best-selling thriller series. The first in a planned trilogy, the plot follows follows Danny Marchant, “a young DJ on the rise in the international world of electronic dance music. Danny is forced to go on the run with a beautiful secret agent assigned to watch him after he is framed for his MI6 agent father’s murder. As Danny tries to clear his name and avenge his father’s death, he finds himself caught in the web of international espionage. Wingard’s partner, Simon Barret, will be providing a rewrite of the screenplay, with previous drafts by Jamie Moss and Stephen Gaghan (‘Syriana,’ ‘Traffic’).
